On top of all the problems I'm having with the new machinery/software at work I am also experiencing an increase in people dropping in to get work done immediately, mainly because they are too lazy to learn how to use the new system.
After a morning of 156 emails, 200 plus jobs in my in tray & 57 staff interruptions by midday an email was sent round & a large sign stuck to my door. The sign basically tells people what times of the day they can just walk in & have their documents produced & that the rest of the time they have to email me or leave work elsewhere to be done. On the first day once the sign was up these are some of the conversations I had.
Colleague 'Does that apply to me?'
Me 'No, I just put it there to make my door look pretty!'
Colleague rushes in with handful of paper & a panicked look.
Me 'Can you read the sign on the door?'
Colleague 'No, what does it say?'
Colleague 'I read the sign, but this is urgent'
Me 'You said that the last 3 times you visited today'
Colleague 'I read the sign, but I'm management'
Me 'I don't give a flying fuck if you are the Queen of the sodding May, I'M BUSY'

All your posts about work could have been made by me lol. I have one colleague at the moment who keeps sending pupils down in the middle of lessons for 'just 2 of these' and 10 of that. God it is so bloody annoying! Everyone thinks their job is the most important and you should drop everything else to do it. Thank god it's the weekend! :)
You have me laughing too...I take x rays in the ER and everything is STAT...so when we are very busy the phone rings constantly to tell us that their patient is more STAT than the others...if only I didn't have to answer the phone we'd get patients exams done much faster...
Guess it's the same everywhere...too bad your sign just caused more chats...
I've never met such a lazy bunch of staff, we do our own stuff
