Capsual wardrobe black/red

Don't get excited, there is nothing catwalk about these 2 posts, I'm 60, pretending to be 40, I don't want to look like mutton dressed as lamb, but I don't want to look 70 either. I also have a black pencil skirt £1 CS about 10 years ago, that is in the wash & a black wool jacket, that would only photograph as a black blur, I cannot remember how much I paid for the jacket as I've had it about 25 years.
I haven't added up the total but you can see that I don't spend a lot on clothes but I am making an effort to look smart.
I'm keeping an eye out for a couple more items when I visit the CS, maybe some brown trousers & a couple of white or cream shirts.

Top row, Black dress, New look, free, given to me by DD 8 years ago, Red dress, Tesco £8 this year, Black & red spotty dress, Tesco sale £7 this year, Red silk blouse, Harrods, approx £50, 40th birthday present, still going strong 20 years later.
Middle row, black & silver shrug, Marisota £5 this year, Black waistcoat, CS 99p
Bottom row, Red cardi, M&S CS, £2.50

Black shoes, Ebay, £4.50 incl p&p
Red shoes, £4.20 CS

Excellent idea to stick to a couple of colours. Must make life easier and I can see that they all work as smart workwear. How do you manage to look after things so wel that they last for so long? Love the red shoes.

I do a lot of my shopping in charity shops too. I try to hunt out the good labels e.g. M&S that I can't afford new!

The tr8ick is not to wash things too much, for skirts & jackets just spot clean & hang outside to air.

What's CS?

We're definately of the same mind set when it comes to a wardrobe. Mix/match of the same color scheme. CS=charity shop or thrift shop as said here in the US.

i like it! I buy the odd new thing but mostly get everything from charity shops, I use blue and grey or green and grey or red and grey. I have grey suits and colour them up with a few nice bits. I aim to get one new suit every other year and usually do well from matalan

Brilliant, a really well thought out wardrobe that works for you.

Gok would be proud!!

I tend to stick to a couple of basic colours (green and lavender) and EVERYTHING must go well with jeans.

Love your red shoes.

Excellent idea! I stick to Navy as my main neutral- I had my colours done about 25 yrs ago and it works for me. It goes with burgundy , grey and off white for winter and pink, turquoise and white for summer. I did spring for an expensive navy blazer, made in Canada and machine washable, as it is a mainstay for both seasons. Great post!

Wonderful posts on your wardrobe...just a couple of colors does the trick...mine are black and white for the most part...

I wear scrubs to work in the hospital and our department is a navy blue...makes it easy/inexpensive...when we switched form sage green a few years ago those scrubs became my work around the house clothes and rags!
