No full on punch ups at the do, just a lot of bad tempered sniping, well there might have been a fight after we left at 11, the place didn't close til 2.
I had 2 funny conversations during the meal, people were talking about foreign travel & I mentioned that my son has just returned from Vienna, someone said their mother had been there but found the canals very disappointing! It seems she had visited in April during the week when the canals were closed for cleaning. I smiled & nodded, I have no idea if all the canals are closed for a week in April, the canals were all open in the April I was in Venice & it seems unlikely they would all be closed simultaneously, but if her mother was in Vienna then no doubt the canals were a disappointment!
The second conversation that surprised me was when one of guests mentioned that her mother was bedridden with a broken hip, I said how sorry I was & the reply came back 'Thank you, but she is very old, so it's only to be expected, she's nearly 64' What! Bedridden a 64 & considered very old!
I was dumbstruck.

My 86 year old grandmother in law would have likely run that commenter over with her bicycle!

Oh my! At 54 I must be practically in the grave....don't tell my 15 year old...he doesn't think I'm that old! Glad the do didn't turn into a free-for-all. Did you ever find out what the low-life thief took? Hope it wasn't the Barbies.
Yikes, old and bedridden at 64, I better tell my 95 year old mother she should take to her bed. At 55 I must be heading into a decline as well.
My gran was still doing the YMCA at 86... then her knees gave in. No trouble with her hips at all and she lasted until just short of her 91st birthday.
My grandma just recently broke her ankle. As I was telling my coworkers about it, two of them asked if she'd been on the roof again. She's infamous for getting on the roof to clean out the gutters. She'll be 83 on New Years Eve.
Well I shall have to tell my mom that she is 5 years past bedridden. Im pretty sure that will surprise her
