Not that I've been away, oh no, nothing so exciting, I have been without a phone line & internet access since 21st.
It is, it seems all my own fault, oh good.
On the 20th I had no internet access & although I had a phone line it had been crossed with a line belonging to a very nice man called Barry, we were receiving each others calls for 48 hours, BT refused to help as firstly the lines were working (Yes we know this, but the lines are crossed) & secondly we had caused the problem ourselves (WTF! How?) as there was no BT work being carried out in our area. (Really, what about the various BT vans in the area who are rolling out BT Infinity!
Eventually this problem was sorted out, it took a while because BT kept sending updates via my email, which I couldn't access as I no internet! I only had my line back for about 40 minutes, when BT cut me off again, as I'd signed up to Infinity, BT had sent me an email with a list of instructions on how to retain my phone line until 4th January when I would be connected to Infinity, as I didn't follow these instructions (Well I couldn't could I, I couldn't access my email with no internet!) My phone line was cut off & wasn't due to be reconnected until 4th Jan. In the mean time I have spent many a pleasant hour on the phone to BT, via my mobile, speaking to an endless stream of BT muppets, who all wished me a Merry Christmas & assured me that they were very concerned about my lack of service but totally unable to offer any help except to send me emails THAT I COULDN'T ACCESS AS I HAD NO INTERNET!
And breath.
On top of this we had a very heavy rain storm on 23rd, which swept a tile off next doors roof which in turn knocked out out Freesat, so no TV either, this wasn't much of a loss as the Grand Prix doesn't start til later on in the year & we don't watch much else. Another neighbour popped over & straightened it on Monday & today I finally had my phone reconnected.

Bet you had a peaceful Christmas!!
I wouldnt miss the TV but the internet thats a different story.
Sounds frustrating. Being able to connect to the "outside" via the internet is one of sanity savers of tough days. Glad you are back.
Sounds like the run-in I had with Virgin media over our internet just before Xmas. The first engineer they sent out was useless and when the same problems reoccurred for the umpteenth time and I phoned yet again, I got a very rude man in their Indian call centre who refused to book me another engineer unless I went through their half hour of diagnostic tests that I'd already done about half a dozen times that week. I eventually got to speak to a nice lady in the same department (after going via customer services and threatening to cancel my subscription) and she booked me an engineer who came and temporarily fixed the problem until they can lay a brand new cable in January. We also had a washing machine breakdown - a disaster in a house with 7 adults including 2 girls who change their clothes about 3 times a day - but luckily I had breakdown cover and it was fixed at no extrs cost within a few days. One time when extra cover really paid off. Anyway, glad all is sorted for you now.
Hugs. What a nuisance. Glad you are back online with us again.
I think all telephone companies employ the same bunch of nitwits if you ask me.......

Bet you just feel like explaining and slapping them after each word - what a bunch of muppets.
Glad you're all connected again now. We don't realise just how dependant we are on the internet until its not there.
BT fecked my friend over too she didn't have internet til christmas eve despite it being a moving transfer and she should have been hooked up the day she moved.
Glad you are back - Happy New Year x
The next time (and there WILL be a next time) BT buggers you about and fobs you off go straight to the CE ian.livingstone@bt.com and put your complaint into one short sentence, very politely, brief and to the point. It worked - and we were awarded over £300 compensation.
